" Maling Akala " comes from first commercially-released album, Ultraelectromagneticpop , of the now defunct 1990s "chopsuey" band The Eraserheads. In 2005, this was later revived by the reggae group Brownman Revival, which triggered renewed interest to The Eraserheads and prompted Sony BMG to release a tribute album to the band entitled Ultraelectromagneticjam . Brownman Revival's version is parodied by Joey de Leon's album Joey to the World 2 under the title " Maliit na Syota ".
